Frequency-independent suppression of strong RF signals superimposed on weak signals

چکیده
A common problem with radiofrequency (RF) receivers is that in addition to the desired signal, there is an interfering signal of much greater total power. These receivers can be for communications, radar, interception, etc. The interference can arise intentionally, such as from intentional jamming, or unintentionally, such as radiofrequency interference from a nearby transmitter. There is a need for some form of interference suppression. Furthermore, it is desirable to keep this augmentation at a low cost. Such interference suppression (also called rejection or excision) has become the subject of much research. For example, for suppression techniques applied to spreadspectrum communications, see [1,2] and the references therein. Suppression can be carried out using numerous techniques which tend to be in the form of band-stop filtering, notch filtering, or adaptive filtering. These techniques can be implemented with a number of different technologies, such as surface acoustic wave devices and fast Fourier transforms. All of these techniques tend to have one thing in common -there is an attempt to remove interfering frequency tones. This approach is thus limited to suppressing one or a few CW tones. Therefore, they are of benefit primarily to interference that is very narrow band and is relatively static; i.e., its frequency and amplitude do not change with time. In this paper, an alternative approach, the frequency-independent strong-signal suppressor (FISSS) [3-51, is introduced. This approach can provide tens

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System
Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...
متن کاملFault Locating in High Voltage Transmission Lines Based on Harmonic Components of One-end Voltage Using Random Forests
In this paper, an approach is proposed for accurate locating of single phase faults in transmission lines using voltage signals measured at one-end. In this method, harmonic components of the voltage signals are extracted through Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and are normalized by a transformation. The proposed fault locator, which is designed based on Random Forests (RF) algorithm, is train...
متن کاملScrutiny of brain signals variations in regions Cz, C3 and C4 under Local Exposure of Extremely Low Frequency and Weak pulsed Magnetic Field to promote Neurofeedback systems
Introduction: Researchers have long been interested in the effects of low intensity (less than 500 microtesla) and Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields (ELF-MF, less than 300 Hz) on human’s brain activity. In this study, our purpose was to analyze the effect of local magnetic field pulses around brain regions Cz, C3, C4 on human electroencephalogram (EEG) and induction of resonance effect...
متن کاملA New Algorithm for the Deinterleaving of Radar Pulses
This paper presents a new algorithm for the deinterleaving of radar signals, based on the direction of arrival (DOA), carrier frequency (RF), and time of arrival (TOA). The algorithm is applied to classic (constant), jitter, staggered, and dwell switch pulse repetition interval (PRI) signals. This algorithm consists of two stages. In the first stage, a Kohonen neural network clusters the receiv...
متن کاملA nonlinear optoelectronic filter for electronic signal processing
The conversion of electrical signals into modulated optical waves and back into electrical signals provides the capacity for low-loss radio-frequency (RF) signal transfer over optical fiber. Here, we show that the unique properties of this microwave-photonic link also enable the manipulation of RF signals beyond what is possible in conventional systems. We achieve these capabilities by realizin...
